The American Linehaul family lost a member of it’s LAX Team when David Rubio passed away due to Covid-19 on January 6. He was a local driver in Los Angeles and well-loved by his coworkers. It is said that he was a “teddy bear” and a very vibrant person, with an amazing sense of humor, and one-of-a-kind loud laugh. He will be missed by everyone who’s lives he touched.
Prior to his illness, David had left the country to travel to Mexico to care for his father, David Sr., who passed away from Covid-19 on January 1. It was there that he contracted Covid-19. His daughter, Alizay, who is 12 years old and lives in Los Angeles, also has Covid-19 and is currently hospitalized in Guadalajara on a ventilator. Their family is raising funds to cover Alizay’s medical bills and her immediate transfer to a more equipped hospital in Guadalajara.

UPDATE: Per her Go Fund Me page: We received some great news from the Rubio family! Alizay’s condition has improved, and she has finally been taken off the ventilator and out of the medically induced coma. She woke up today and was able to spend much needed time with her mom, Patty. We are hoping that Alizay continues to gain strength so she can be moved out of the COVID ward in the coming days. We are cautiously very very hopeful because we know how strong and courageous Alizay is! Please keep continuing to send love and light and prayers her way! Effective immediately, American Linehaul has seasonally suspended service to Salt Lake City, Utah (SLC). We felt it necessary to remove this destination from our service schedule during the winter months in order to mitigate service failures and unpredicatable costs. Please stand by for more updates when the warmer weather approaches.
Any freight that is currently that is currently in our system will be moved to destination.
As we all know, the cost of continuing business during the COVID-19 Pandemic has continued to rise. Due to the unpredictability in the market, the extended peak season and the consistency of higher truck costs, we find it necessary to extend our Peak Season surcharge past our anticipated December 31, 2020 end date.
With this in mind, American Linehaul will extend the $5.00 per HWB surcharge through January 30, 2021. We will re-evaluate this surcharge as this date approaches.
We appreciate your understanding and support through these unprecedented times.
Your friends at American Linehaul first and foremost wish you a wonderful holiday season. What a wild ride 2020 has been… even the end of it seemed fitting given the circumstances of this year!
We are happy to report that our stations are back to operating under normal conditions and will be ready to go when we resume operations on Monday, December 28, 2020 following the Christmas holidays.
As you can imagine, the influx of freight we received in our system caused much turmoil in all departments despite our best efforts to control these additional levels of freight. We appreciate your patience while we tried our best to maximize the service we were able to provide to you as well as preserve the sancitity of our network. Limiting freight was a difficult decision to make – saying no to our customers is something we’re not used to!
Thank you for your continued patience. Our stations and customer service department have been working around the clock to ensure that your shipments arrive at destination and that you get the answers you need.
We look forward to starting fresh on Monday and moving towards an optimistic New Year!
